Our skies are full with an abundance of birds. There are hundreds of species that fly through the east coast – inhabiting our lakes, oceans and forests. Their existence is crucial to the overall health of our environment. But something troubling is happening and with a growing number of birds on Nova Scotia’s species at risk list, the fate of many species is up in the air.

Birds At Risk is a half hour documentary that travels to birding hotspots around Nova Scotia to examine the health of our bird populations. The film introduces a passionate group of birdwatchers, biologists and volunteers that are playing an important role in the scientific research that is critical to keeping bird species alive.
